Meriem Sakrouhi is a Moroccan writer-director and architect based in New York, working across documentary and narrative film. Her latest short, Mon Taxi, had its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival as the first Moroccan short film in over 20 years, and won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Experimental Documentary at Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival. Her earlier narrative short, Inner Selves, won multiple festival awards. She's currently developing a feature-length documentary, alongside training for her third half marathon.
One of the most memorable days of her life was when her dad attended the screening of her short film, 'Inner Selves,' in New York City. Although he couldn’t understand English, he witnessed the reactions and laughter in a packed theatre.
